More interesting tidbits have come to light regarding the rumored US$ 1500 sub-notebook from Apple that's supposedly due at Macworld 2008. Apparently, MacRumors has heard "reliable confirmation" about the new sub-notebook.

Let's start with what's not included: an optical drive. MacRumors suggests that instead of an internal optical drive, Apple will be offering an external optical drive for the notebook, presumably  due to the company's efforts to reduce the size of its laptops.

MacRumors also says that Apple is rumored to be introducing more than one notebook revision at Macworld, with at least one model packing a multi-touch trackpad. No more details about these supposed other revisions have surfaced yet.

Of course, these all remain unconfirmed rumors at this point. Mac fans don't have long to wait until everything's made clear, though. This year's Macworld starts January 15.
