This is a nice mod right here. You might want to jailbreak your iPhone if only for this one. It's called LiveTime, and it's an app that animates and updates the clock on your SpringBoard, allowing it to display the current time. When you install LiveTime, it will begin to animate your clock icon automatically. More details, features in the full article, as well as screens and a video. |

Marian, an iPod Touch modder, is coming up with a mic pre-amp which should fit perfectly into the iTouch's dock connector. Check out more details of this unique mod after the jump! |

Apple's upcoming operating system Leopard wouldn't be available until October this year but even this early, we've been hearing a lot about its features and how it differs from the current OS Tiger. And just like in previous OS updates, some consumers are wondering how to emulate those features on Tiger.Online site AppleTell has an interesting article about the above mentioned "problem" and divulged that there are a couple of existing third party applications that provide users some solution. For starters, here are some of the features that you can add to your Tiger and give it some "spots" so to speak to make it look like Leopard:

This is certainly a great example of turning lemons into lemonade. In this case, turning a broken iPod into something much better.
After noticing that his iPod screen broke, Owen McGarry decided not to get it fixed, and instead managed to modify the iPod into an iBook mini-me. This was done by cutting the body crosswise in such a way that it would fold laptop-style, with the other half holding the screen and the hard drive and motherboard kept in the lower half. What's great about this modified iPod is that there's a Linux operating system installed, along with full user interface. Not bad for a dying iPod reborn as a nifty...iTop. But how useful is it really? Check out the screens below. |

Over the years, quite a number of Resident Evil-related merchandise have been released by Capcom. One of these was a 2GB iPod Nano that had an engraved S.T.A.R.S. logo on the back. Check out the image to the right for a look at it.This particular item is perhaps one of the rarest of the Resident Evil swag, as fans could only get one by using a JCB card in Japan and spending more than 100,000 yen (US$ 822) within three months. As if that wasn't enough, only twenty of these were made so those eligible were entered into a drawing to decide who got one. If you're a die-hard Resident Evil fan who never managed to get one of these iPods, the good news is that one is being sold on eBay for US$ 299. Compared to what one had to go through to get one of these originally, this is a pretty good deal for hardcore RE fans, who can then personalize it further by changing its background image. |

It seems Other World Computing's ModBook, an Apple MacBook converted into a slate style tablet PC, is getting closer and closer to shipping. According to the jkOnTheRun blog, shipping dates have been emailed to those who ordered ModBooks. The ModBooks will reportedly start shipping in "very limited quantities" in early June, and all orders are expected to ship by the end of July. Some of the components initially listed for the ModBooks are also being upgraded at no extra cost. This includes upping the pressure sensitivity levels of the active digitizer from 256 to 512 levels, a perfect upgrade for artists. Consumers can now also get a 7200 rpm drive in the ModBook, choose to put a second drive in place of the optical drive, and get 3GB of memory. If you're interested in getting your own ModBook, you better start saving up. The "fast" ModBook model with a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo and 80GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive will set you back US$ 2,279. The "faster" model with the 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo and 120GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive carries with it a whopping US$ 2,579 price tag. Orders can be placed here. |

The Ninjas made it clear that doing the stuff they specify will have to require you to put apart your precious Apple TV. If you get over that quite iffy part, you will be able to do the following stuff:

Perhaps the world has moved on to the new iPod Nano. Still, there's an entire legacy of iPod minis out there to deal with (heck, the mini gave the new-gen Nano its scratch-proof metal skin. How's that for legacy?). So, aside from turning minis into flashlight stereos, aircraft black boxes - or, for some weird and psychotic reason, flushing them down the toilet, why not recycle them, and/or turn them into the subject of a mod experiment, as one from the Geek Technique blog has done? Because the microdrive in a mini is a storage device with moving parts, sooner or later (likely later), that drive will run down and conk out. What this geek did was to swap the 4GB microdrive for a Compact Flash card. He used a 4GB card, but as he pointed out, maybe even bigger "since the CF-standard is able to support capacities up to 137 GB." Hmm... maybe Apple SHOULD go flash for the next generation of video iPods. Full how-to of modding an iPod mini's memory in ways Steve Jobs hasn't thought of, until perhaps just recently, at the Read link below. And, once recycled and sporting a muy-streamlined flash card, please don't suddenly flush this into the toilet as well. The only iPod that could probably fit with zero damage to the pipes is the Shuffle, anyway. Maybe even survive, too. |
