AppStore - Image 1

Here's some good news for Xbox Live and Apple iPhone subscribers. Microsoft has officially halted the distribution of related applications over at Apple's AppStore. No, this move is not to put a stop to creative coding, but rather it is a move to make all programs offered to patrons absolutely free of charge.

This news is revealed by the creators of the 1337pwn Friends List application (an app that allows users to access to their own XBL Friends List through Apple's iPhone) this morning, coming from a recent discussion with Microsoft's developer relations department.

Although some are wary that this could be a covert tactic from Microsoft as they are gearing up for development of their own iPhone applications, we guess users still have all reasons to be happy that all Xbox Live-related applications are now free. More updates on this as they come.

» Seem like a desperate attempt to compete wid the PSP

knowing that M$ will charge for anything and did, the only reason this became free is cause sales were so bad. M$ needed and is trying to copy what PSP can do with PS3.....

When a money greedy corp is throwing out free money they must have a motive........this seems like a pathetic desperate attempt to compete against PSP and PS3 connectivity...knowing they don't have anything to do so with it accept slapping it on to what ever they can get their hands on to.

That comment was way off topic.

you need to re-read the title. notice that its talking about the iphone. NOT THE PSP

Actually he's on topic but using it to point it M$ competing with Sony. I think it's likely that M$ is doing what houaruto said. They will do anything to try to gain any ground. It would be nice to see the Iphone have more controller or access to more bluetooth devices than it has via Apple's App.Store.

Microsoft wants something to be free? Thats amazing! Maybe Bill finally realized he has enough money! I guess the Microsoft Vacuum Cleaner isn't the only thing that doesn't suck from Microsoft anymore!

 » You're dumb?...yeah

1)Bill Gates doesn't work for Microsoft anymore..
2)It's a company, they're trying to make money.
If you don't want what they offer, hey you dont have to pay for it! You do have options...
Looking as they provide some of the best services, they can charge as they wish.

Bill Gates still works for Microsoft. He is the part time non-executive chairman. :D

...meaning he wouldn't be making the decision on this..

Non-exec. doesn't necesarily fit under he works there. If someone he visits the Co. 4 times a year I wouldn't classify that as "working" there.
