MacBook Air receives SMC Update 1.0 to address fan issue - Image 1

Here's some good news for the MacBook Air owners living out there in the tropics. Apple's support site has recently released SMC update 1.0, which is expected to address your laptop's ongoing problem with its internal fan.

As a recap, previous MacBook Air users had been reporting that the unit's fan failed to keep up when CPU-heavy tasks were done, such as running Safari, or iTune's download service. These, reportedly, would spike the laptop's internal temperature.

As a result, they often cause the notebook to become unresponsive for several seconds. At worst, the cooling issue would cause the unit to lock up. While this update is most certainly be good news, the newer MacBook Air owners may want to check on when their unit was manufactured.

Other owners report that the units shipping out at the same time as the update already carried patch, although their fans still weren't functioning as expected. We advise the readers who may be having the said update problems to keep alert in case Apple finds a way to address your problem.

For those who want to get SMC update 1.0, you can refer to the source link below. It should redirect you to Apple's official download page for the product.
