The coming year seems to promise good fortune for Apple as its Mac OS X Leopard debuted in Japan last month. This is welcome news for Apple since sales of Mac computers specifically in Japan had only seen a slight increase in the past months.

According to recent articles, sales of the Mac OS X Leopard has successfully overtaken Windows in the Japanese market. Since last month, Apple now claims 53.9% of Japan's OS-only market. Mac sales have also increased from 15.5% to a whopping 60.5% year-over-year in contrast to Windows sales that downgraded from 75.3% to 28.7% over the same period.

Not everyone seems to be too surprised about the Leopard-Windows turn out. According to analysis made by other recent features, the fundamental reason to why most consumers ultimately chose the Mac OS Leopard over Window's offering is due to the Windows Vista, Windows' line of graphical operating systems that suffered lackluster sales because consumers found it too complicated to use.

At the moment, competition between rival personal computer developers seems tighter than ever before. But if Apple manages to maintain this trend 'til the arrival of the new year, it may just be best poised to grab the market once again next year.
