It's no secret that not too many owners are happy with iPhone's recently release firmware 1.1.1. After all, there have been reports that last month's update was followed by bricking incidents involving both hacked and unhacked phones. In light of this problem, a man over at California has apparently decided to file a civil lawsuit against the company. The suit was filed a few days ago by attorney Damian Fernandez, and further implicated that Apple was attempting to create a monopoly by preventing US users from choosing service providers outside AT&T. According to Fernandez, Apple was punishing consumers for attempting to exercise their right to unlock their phones to other service providers. This took the form of the firmware update we mentioned earlier. The suit further demanded a jury trial, and asked the court to order Apple to unlock their iPhones, and provide warranty service to hacked devices. It also demanded that the company pay cash compensations for the damages brought upon by its update. |

» Screw Apple...
I hope they get sued into oblivion. I'm sick of their constant advertising.

» MORON!
This guy is a moron! The guy bought the iPhone knowing 100% that it was ONLY going to be compatible with the AT&T network AND he knows 100% he would void his warranty if he hacks his iPhone. Apple was not deceitful in any way. They did not hide anything.
You cannot sue Apple for something they explicitly explained in their warranty documentation. If you want to use a phone on a certain network, BUY A DIFFERENT PHONE.
I cannot understand why everyone wants to sue Apple. Is it because of their dominance/monopoly of the digital music market? Why does everyone have to suffer when a business develops a successful product? If it was any other brand of phone, no one would care. No one sued Motorola when people bricked their RAZR's when they were trying to unlock it.
This is ridiculous.
Oh yeah, and NO ONE HAS THE "RIGHT" TO UNLOCK THEIR PHONE.
