Well, we're not one to look down upon the lovable Steve Job's awesome creativity, but the folks at Worth1000.com decided that they too could come up with revolutionary products following the old i-Something naming convention (iPhone anyone?). Worth1000 is hosting a little contest inviting graphic artists (and very creative ones, too) to make images of the products that they have in mind. The contest went on for 48 hours only, and the winners from highest to lowest go about the same way from the first picture down to the last. We warn you though, if you've had problems laughing out to your heart's content, these entries submitted from people all over the world might cause you to break into tears...from laughing. I know, it's my second off-topic take on Apple, but this was just too good to pass. All those who have seen this before, why didn't you give us the heads up? All those who haven't, check out the site via the Read link below. Don't forget to bring a handkerchief! |

Within a certain world bound by the iPod, the Mac, OS X, the Apple's-got-to-call-it-somethingPhone, Apple TV, and so forth, Steve Jobs sits right on top of the food chain. King of the hill. Visionary ideologue. The only thing missing is a Red Sea to part, it seems. But perhaps another aspect of Jobs' charm isn't just his bold vision for Apple (which has led to at least one outrageous claim, though), but his humanity.
You know, it's got flaws, it screws up every once in a while, and instead of running Bug Month, everyone has a good laugh. It happens to everyone, even to Jobs. Here's a collage of some of his keynote speech bloopers, caught on tape, and edited together in iMovie by --Machintologist--. Yes, it's nothing newsworthy, we know, for those who nitpick. But the true mark of being human, a wise man once said, is his ability to laugh once in a while and not give a whole flying manureload whether it's newsworthy or not. We bet even Steve enjoys a good laugh once in a while. |

Apple programmers may arguably make some of the best software in the world. And lets face it, Macs are so much cooler than PCs, but the men behind Macs aren't the halo-bearing geniuses you think they are. Sure, they are geniuses and you can take Mac OS X as evidence for that, but they still have their own outbreaks of anger which we all experience, and it appears that some negligent programmers have implemented some non-standard code into the comments of their programs. With web tools like Google's code search allowing you to search the source code for thousands of programs, you can now easily gain access to a lot of code samples from big companies and small developers alike. The sample above was taken from some kind of Apple Corp. program and obviously shows the programmer's anger in coding. Another programmer even made a dig at Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser in the middle of a function. Some internet users are calling for this to stop, saying it's an outrage that programmers should be able to add lines like this in source code. The more light hearted users will probably find this very funny, as I for one laughed as I read the source code. However, after this blunder was exposed to the criticisms of the worldwide web, programmers might be a little more careful in the future. See the full code extract by clicking the link below. |

Airport

Around nine or ten days ago, Canadian news outlets covered a story about an iPod causing an airport scare. In it, we are told that a poor passenger accidentally dropped his iPod into the toilet, clogging it. Eventually, suspicion overtook the airplane's staff, prompting a landing and subsequent investigation of the man who dropped the music player and an incursion of the local bomb squad into the airplane to retrieve the "mysterious device."Well... how is this related to World of Warcraft? Apparently, a WoW player inadvertently caused the whole scare, and chose to relate his tale on the World of Warcraft forums. The whole story is quite long, so let us sum it up for you. Basically, he went into the bathroom with his iPod. He left the bathroom and, some time later, flight attendants were going frantic because a toilet was clogged with something. Then he realized his iPod was missing. Eureka! That's what was clogging the toilet. Unfortunately, procedures to land the plane had already been called for, as well as the police and the bomb squad. The entire flight was evacuated, and he eventually underwent an interrogation. Eventually, the questioning led to his reasons for being on the plane. His response? "I was to visit a friend I met on World of Warcraft, Cara." He then had to explain the idea of an MMORPG and a guild to officers, so that it wouldn't be misunderstood as some terrorist threat. The interrogation continued until he was eventually cleared. Poor guy. All because of a love for WoW and music. On the bright side, he now has the first legendary thread on the new forums. The thread's currently on page 22, so you may want to hurry and read the whole thing before it gets deleted for being too long. |

Design boo-boo over at the Microsoft Security webpage, folks!
Steve Jobs must be having a laughing fit on this by now: a PowerBook being advertised as "clean" on a Microsoft Security webpage? I couldn't help giggling. Well, we're not surprised that Microsoft proves once again that they're a cop-out. Well, in the design industry, it's pretty much of a given standard that most companies (including Microsoft) make their creative designs on a Mac. But when Microsoft itself accidentally slips up and admits that they use their major competitor's products, you got an instant recipe for Apple fans bashing Microsoft. |

I don't know about you, but sometimes I find myself not knowing what the exact date and day is already, most especially after til-the-crack-of-dawn parties or when I'm working that new layout for my blog (that currently doesn't look right in IE), these things tend to be a little distorted in my memory. And for someone that doesn't have half the mind to remember, I place my trust on tech devices, that don't go to til-the-crack-of-dawn parties or that work on a new blog layout. Unfortunately for Mac users, their little device called the iCal has failed them time and again. But, no it has redeemed itself, and displayed the correct date for once - July 17. |

To kick things off, let me just tell you that this is a joke about Apple's successful contraption, so save your violent 'fake' comments because this is obviously a joke and no such Apple product exists. This parody was produced and directed by one Scott Kelby and focuses on a non-existent iPod variant -- the iFlea, named because of its microscopic, flea-sized characteristic. An iFlea could only hold 1 song, so you need more fleas to pep you up with your fave tracks.
The parody is complete with other what-nots for the iFlea such as the iFlea Accessory Kit which includes a magnifying glass. You could also make use of the iPod flea collar that will house your 'fleas' safely, plus you can carry it around as well, perfect for jogging and looking like a fool. There is also a bundled iFlea, which was hilariously packaged in a tic-tac container, so now more fleas means more songs. The imaginary product will also host a fiesta of colors which could match your outfit, mood whatever! I liked the video, reminds me of that sketch I saw in David Letterman a few nights back, but nonetheless, still pretty hilarious. So, did you like it? Or it didn't amuse you at all? Whatever your reaction is, don't hesitate to tell it to us through your comments! |

Firstly, watch the video below. To me this is one of the most convincing fakes I've seen for a while, and I say that only because it has a video to show it off. Someone wants us to believe that they have ported Mac OSX Leopard to the Video iPod, and not only this, they have also got themselves or made a touch screen for the iPod. There are two main reasons to why I think this is a fake, but the final decision is up to you. Firstly the screen resolution seems way too high for the iPod, and the general appearance just seems like a straight video. Secondly the stylus sync is too un-smooth and mis-timed.
Have a look at the video and let us know what you think... |

Talk about stretching the franchise beyond its limits! The iPod family is such a huge success we heard Apple is stamping everything with an "i" to keep the money rolling in. If you've got money to flush down the toilet, take a seat at Apple's iPotty. We stumbled upon a video that says this "supposed" Apple product holds 10,000 songs and a gallon of water. Hitting the flush bar plays digital music as your "hot stuff" dance round and round till its gone. As 'fun' as this may sound, the iPotty is just a product of Bretizzle's imagination.

Do some Apple users have too much time on their hands?
The editors of Tech E-Blog got photos of several Apple mods and recently published this selection of their favorites, showing what some folks do to "spruce up" their beloved Mac computers. The nostalgia buff inside me would like to see one designed like that early television model from the late 1940's that had a round screen (anyone ever seen one of those? They never worked very well, but were extremely cool-looking), or maybe a "Tri-V" from the original Star Trek. #10: MAME
Not your "Auntie Mame" from the Jerry Herman musical, but a retro-80's arcade game-style cabinet, incorporating a flat-panel iMac and a top of the line sound system. Pac-Man or Asteroids, anyone? #9: VINTAGE SE 30
This was the very first Mac I remember, running System 6 back in 1989. Unlike that particular model (top-of-the-line for its time, but useless for any applications today), this one - created by a user in Japan - has a new Mac Mini inside. The grayscale monitor is connected via the DVI port. More of the Apple mods after the jump! |
