It seems that two more are in the running to try to oust iTunes from its top spot as a music download service. While Google, who rumors say is launching a download service of its own, is a well-known company in the technology world, MTV is hoping that its clout with the hip hop generation will lead to something when it launches its new service.

According to MacNN: There has also been speculation that Google could buy its way into the market through a purchase of iTunes rival Napster.

Both services might target a 'subscription' service as opposed to iTunes' per-song feature. As much as Google is attempting to take over the world nowadays, it now looks as though iTunes has a viable competitor to fear. But, like everything else, only time will tell if even Google is able to compete with Apple in a market that Apple has mostly created itself.
