Gameloft - Image 1

If you own one of today's current-gen cellphones, chances are you've played one of Gameloft's excellent titles, their library spanning the entire videogame rainbow of genres. Now, it seems that the company behind some of this generation's most addictive games is looking to develop for the next-gen of cellphones, namely the Apple iPhone.

In this update, they pretty much confirm it, and they have no less than 15 planned titles due for release this year. Awesome!

Why only now, though? Well, they had to wait for the Software Development Kit to do it, of course! And with the recently-released SDK at the center of their developing technology, no doubt we'll be seeing some pretty interesting titles coming from Gameloft.

After all, with the Apple iPhone being the cutting edge in cellphone technology, the titles that will be developed for it would definitely take advantage of its features, such as the touchscreen, a 3D processor with OpenGL support, and an accelerometer.

Unfortunately, the press release didn't quite cover just what sort of games we should expect from Gameloft. But if their library of over 200 games is anything to go by, no doubt they'll be just as playable and as addictive.

Here's hoping one of the planned 15 titles will feature online play or even an online leaderboard. Updates as we get them.
