fring releases VoIP application for iPhone over WiFi service - Image 1Mobile Internet community and service provider fring announced today the release of the world's first ever mobile VoIP for iPhone that utilizes the gadget's WiFi application.

This allow users to talk and interact with other users (known as fringsters). Note that the release is for free and is still on its light, sneak preview R&D version.

This software has been created with the help of the Holon Institute of Technology academic research labs in Israel.

To be able to use fring's VoIP service, you will have to have an "opened" iPhone with the Installer ans a WiFi access. Some of the service's notable features include:
  • The freedom of being able to take fring contacts and buddies from other favorite online communities mobile on their iPhones
  • The ability to make free and low cost mobile calls over WiFi and enjoy rich, IM-style live chat with online contacts, regardless of whether they are on their mobiles, PCÂ?s or other Internet devices
  • During login, fring automatically creates a single, integrated contact list, combining contacts from all of the usersÂ? selected Internet communities
  • Offers special features such as real-time, PC-style Â?presenceÂ? indicators which continually display whether contacts are online, away, offline, in a call, on their mobiles or in front of their PCs, providing new levels of freedom to interact and truly take the internet mobile

What about the ipod touch? if you were to utilize the audio in port could you technically get some VOIP then? and could you then with a portible EVDO thingy developed get a cellphone?
