If you're 1st or 2nd generation iPod Shuffle isn't playing music anymore, Apple has released a utility that'll help you fix it. The iPod Reset Utility 1.0.2 for Windows resets your Shuffle back to factory settings.

You're probably going to be thinking that iTunes already has that functionality. Well, it doesn't always work as pointed out in the Apple official page, so this is a workaround for that problem. The program also came with a reminder that the iPod Reset Utility is only intended for use the iPod Shuffle. So don't even try running it on a different model.

Here's a short list of the problems that the program was built to fix as well as important things you have to know before using the application.

Use iPod Reset Utility to fix the following issues:

• iPod will not play music, and cannot be restored using iTunes.
• iPod is not recognized by iTunes, but is visible in My Computer or in Device Manager on a Windows PC, or in Apple System Profiler on a Mac.
• iPod shuffle (1st Generation) is identified as a device in "Recovery mode." iPod shuffle (2nd Generation) is identified as a "USB DFU device."
