We're getting a bunch of new updates on Apple gadgets at the ongoing Worldwide Developers Conference, one of them being the highly anticipated release of Firmware 2.0.

Some of the new features Firmware 2.0 will sport, as shown in the conference, is the ability to save images from your email to the photo library, as well as the bulk deletion and editing of your email and SMS messages.

There's also new contact search functions, and upgraded support for iWork documents and Office docs. They even showed a feature that lets you write Chinese characters. Hen hao. We don't know if you'll need the firmware to play the announced upcoming games such as Super Monkey Ball and Pangea, but it's worth getting just for its own sake anyway.

Firmware 2.0 will be available to iPhone owners for free, but will cost US$ 9.95 for iPod Touch owners. The update will be released in July. We're guessing it will be released on July 11 along with the iPhone 3G, as a previous rumor may suggest.
