We're sure you guys have experienced this: Ever tried guiding a not-so-computer-literate relative through an image upload session? More specifically, ever tried guiding them through the rather long and fiddly process of uploading iPhoto files to Gmail? Juan I. Leon had the same problem, and after thinking it over, decided to come up with this simple little solution called Photo2Gmail. For those asking what exactly it does, it's a plugin for your iPhoto that simplifies the otherwise complicated process of re-sizing and uploading images to Gmail. From what we can see, it also comes with a pre-size function to allow for faster image uploads - very convenient for multiple files. Be warned, though - Juan says the software's still in its early stages, so expect it to have a couple of bugs. All in all we like the idea, and we're hoping Juan comes up with an update for this plugin soon. |

So we were watching Kate Winslet on Letterman pushing her movie "The Holiday" co-starring Cameron Diaz. In one of the press junket interviews Kate was asked to say something about Cameron. Kate says Cameron had a surprisingly healthy appetite which no one would know looking at JT's best girl's body. So, she tells Letterman, she wanted to compliment her on this by saying, "She could eat me under the table." That, of course, was a paraphrase of the expression "Drinking someone under the table" which means out-drinking someone else. But who cares what she actually meant when what every one thought she meant is so much more, ahhh, picturesque? "A ticket seller," Letterman calls it. Anyway, Tasty Planet is a PC and Mac game from Dingo Games where you get to live vicariously through a tiny ball of grey goo which eats everything around it. The he more it eats, the bigger it gets! It starts with everything from bugs and then move up to biplanes. The goo can definitely eat Winslet, Diaz, and every Hollywood actress under the table - except probably Kirstie Alley. Tasty Planet (which reminds some of us of Katamari Damacy) is available for US$19.95 but if you want to test drive the grey goo first you can download the free demo here. Bon appetit! If you're a Mac-user that knows the ins and outs of getting to play video files, surely, you'd know about media player">VLC. It's only the most widely-used, most-reliable, universal media player for your codec'd vids. Are you willing to give your media player a make-over? Here's a nifty little download to get you guys going. After all, while some of us have already grown attached to the orange cone, there's still some room for customization. This neat little make-over kit from Mac Rabbit supplies you with sleek document icons to soup up your application.

If you ain't from New York City, then you might not be familiar with the subway system. Well, even if you're from New York City, you might not be familiar with the entire subway system. And a map can only get you so far - you'll need to know when to switch trains, that the schedules are on each line, and more.Well, Zsubway, Zdrinks">Zurnet puts all that information right at your fingertips: into your iPod. Zsubway condenses all the pertinent information about the NYC subway system into easy-to-access image files you can access through the iPod's image viewer. That information is free, and they even update it for free - all you have to do is synchronize through iTunes and you'll navigate the warrens of New York's third rails with ease. *ehem* (begins face-melting solo) High above the mucky-muck, a castle made of clouds. There sits Wonderboy, sitting oh-so-proudly. There's not much to say when you're that high above the mucky-muck, gamers and techies everywhere. Thank the devil who bore you for Jack Black and Kyle Gass, Wonderboy and Nasty Man, archnemeses of the devil himself... Wielders of the Pick of Destiny! That's right! JB and KG are coming to US theaters on November 14, and iTunes is working with the duo to play the best song (and movie) in the world, "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny". If you've got iTunes, you can pre-order a copy of their new record and you'll be getting some bonus goodies too. According to Perooz.com, if you pre-order now, you'll also be getting a bonus track, a digital booklet for their new album and the second half of their iTunes-exclusive mini-movie. If you're thinking what good it'll do you, don't worry about it. Think of this pre-order as a tribute to the greatest and best song (and movie) in the world. Oh, and you can also pick up the first half of the mini-movie on iTunes, by the way, so that's no excuse. Now get a pre-order before they hit us with karate chops while singing, With karate I kick your ass From here to Tiananmen Square Oh yeah, Mother-*word deleted because you know what we mean*, before they kick our freaking derriere, yeah! |

Snaps for CasiCakes and their updated iPod2PC application. With it, you can move your music files, videos, playlists, and even song information into your iTunes. It also allows you to browse through your songs in the iPod easily. The application scans your iPod for your songs and playlists, and all you have to do it right-click to bring up the context menu.
The context menu is the one which will allow you to check or un-check what you want to copy from the list. They can be sorted by title, artist, album, or any which way you prefer. Too bad it's a trial version though. You can get the license for US$ 19.90 via PayPal, or US$ 23 via ShareIt. What's new in this version?

It's a grind-on-the-rails peek into the life, travels, and kickflips of Element Skateboards' Element team. This is Elementality. And today, we have Volume 2 of this video journal available via Perooz for download, if you happen to own a PSP or an Apple 5th-gen video iPod. The video and the Element team include some of the skateboarding world's more well-known faces, including Bam Margera, Vanessa Torres, and Nyjah Huston. Watch the full length skate part from Dallas Rockvam, the Team Montage which has the team skating in various locales around the world, and the Fishtales Film which includes a music video inspired by the Fishtales board series. Kickflip your way after this to Tony Hawk's Project 8 - where you can also catch a clip of that little tyke Nyjah being mo-capped for the game. Video mags, games, reality, virtuality - it's an entire culture, you see. Download: [Elementality Vol. 2 (PSP)] Download: [Elementality Vol. 2 (iPod)] |

Of the bajillion devices out there, chances are you either got a PSP, an iPod, or a smartphone. Chances are, you might even have all three. And you're wondering, how the heck can you easily play your video files in your device? All you need is a converter, right? And how could it get any better than this?
As the name indicates, Boilsoft 3GP/iPod/PSP/MP4 v1.01 is a 3GP, iPod, PSP, MP4 converter all-in-one. Just specify the video file you want to change to a different format, configure the settings (see picture), click "Convert", and away you go! Here's a list of what you can convert:

Who doesn't want to watch "Desperate Housewives" or "Lost" in their iPods (especially during long road trips)? You've already Lostified your videos so that iTunes shows them up organized (because you're obsessive compulsive like that). Now, it's all just a matter of getting them into your iPod. Well, "squint" no further, because Techspansion has updated their video converter app to iSquint v1.5 to help you in that area. It converts almost any popular video file (.mov, .mp4, .avi, .dv, .mpg, .vob, .3gp, .asf, .wmv, .flv, .m4v, among others) into MPEG-4 faster than Quicktime Pro. If you're converting an XviD file, you won't even need codecs or what not. All you need to do is drag your files onto the application and click "Start". Before you can say "wham bam, thank you, ma'am" your files are ready for transferring. Of course, the size of the video will affect the conversion time, but still, it will convert nonetheless. Here's what's new in v1.5:

Mac users would be delighted to know that Google has just updated their services to accomodate Mac users out there, and all this after hiring a Mac Engineering team. In fact there is even a customized version of the Google website that caters to Mac-lovers (check out the footer in the screenie we got). The Mac-fied Google site for Mac users now sports several downloadable features which we think are pretty cool. One of these is the Google Notifier which provides easier access to your mail which is also customizable according to user's preferences. The Google Notifier also provides a Google Calendar that lets one keep track of important dates. Another downloadable item is the Picasa Web Albums. This handy application lets you upload your photos in several ways which includes directly using iPhoto, or using a drag-and-drop system from a standalone application. To be able to enjoy this feature, just sign up for a Picasa Web Albums account. Other downloadable software tailor-made for Mac users are Google Toolbar, Google Earth, Google SketchUp and Google Widgets. |
