 Could VMWare be working on a virtualization solution for OS X? (Virtualization tech allows, among other things, the creation of an environment that allows a guest OS to run on another host system.)It sure does seem likely that VMWare would at least be toying with the idea. Intel's Parallels Desktop for Mac OS X was recently released, after all, and I really doubt VM would simply give up the Mac market to its competitor. Plus Apple's switched to x86-based processors, which, in VMWare VP for Platform Products Raghu Raghuram's words, gives them an "interesting opportunity" (whatever that means). It's been known for a little while already that VMWare's been running their products on Macs running OS X in their labs. Whether this means that they'll be selling virtualization software for OS X is anyone's guess at this point. Sure would be interesting if they would, though - it'd make OS X that much more useful... Pretty please, VMWare? |
