Applications and games rolled out by homebrew developers always give us the option of going beyond the built-in features of the platform they were built for. A good example of this would be the homebrew calculator application CalcPaper 1.0, developed by the team from iPaguri.com. CalcPaper makes use of an interface similar to the iPhone's standard Calculator, but with a nice touch feature twist added to it. The app simulates output on a paper receipt of an old-school calculator, allowing the user to scroll through it using one finger. In addition to this, it also comes with several skins which makes the program more visually pleasing than the default Calculator tool on your Apple device. CalcPaper requires a jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch running on firmware 1.1.3 or 1.1.4. An unregistered and free version of the application is available through the repository at http://repo.ispazio.net and allows users to store up to 50 lines of numbers for crunching. Those of you willing to pay US$ 2.95 for the full version will be able to calculate up to 1,000 lines and will be able to store your preferences for future uses of the app. The developers are currently working on a version of CalcPaper which is compatible with the new 2.0 firmware. Once this new version is released, they will provide a new activation code for those who decide to purchase the full version. Please note that there have been reports of the app crashing when used with an iPod Touch, although it works fine using an iPhone. |
