Apple iPhone - Image 1In its efforts to go hand in hand with third-party developers to provide consumers a diverse line-up of applications and other software, Apple has revealed its iPhone 2.0 software which is scheduled for release on June 2008. For now, selected developers and enterprise customers can get their hands on a beta version.

Together with iPhone 2.0's beta release, developers will also receive the iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) and access to new enterprise features they can equip their apps with. This includes Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support for easier integration of secure over-the-air push e-mail, contacts, calendars, and the remote wipe function. The Cisco IPsec VPN will also be made available for encrypted access to private corporate networks.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs expects this move to encourage a vibrant third-party developer community that can potentially create thousands of native applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
