Apple's Safari 3.1 has been undergoing private testing over the last few days. The developers from Apple created this latest version to provide Web designers an easier way of writing dynamic, customizable web pages as well as iPhone apps. The effects of which will hopefully trickle down the line to provide users with a better experience.

From all indications, this latest release will have some pretty good features including downloadable web fonts, CSS transforms and animations, support for HTML5's SQL storage application programming interface, and better web-page debugging tools.

The downloadable web fonts as well as the CSS transforms and animations should theoretically provide users the ability to render web pages and web apps with improved design messages and real-time visual effects. In addition, developers can now author trigger actions that scale, rotate, skew and translate HTML boxes in real time using CSS Transforms.

Web developers will appreciate the fact that Safari 3.1 will support HTML5's SQL storage application programming interface (API). This client-side database storage programming interface opens the door to a future array of web applications which stores structured data locally on a user's machine using SQL.

Finally we have the better debugging tools in Safari 3.1. The application now has a database browser tool integrated into the Web Inspector to use with the SQL storage API. In addition, a native version of the getElementsByClassName JavaScript function has also been added which should make programming much easier.
