Apple Software Update icon - Image 1Mac OS X users can breathe a little easier now, thanks to the latest Security Update released by Apple. The new software update is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5, and is "recommended for all users and improves the security of Mac OS X".

One of the more significant bugs addressed by Security Update 2008-005 was an issue with QuickLook, where loading malicious Microsoft Office files can lead to an "arbitrary code execution" error message. In addition, the update finally puts a clamp on the DNS vulnerability which has been plaguing OS X users all week.

To download Security Update 2008-005, just click on the Software Update icon and let your Mac do the rest. For more information about the other fixes the update includes, you can check out Apple's support page through the link we've provided below.
