Apple releases Safari 3.1.1 - addresses four security issues - Image 1In order for you guys to safely browse the internet in a more efficient manner, Apple has just released the latest version of Safari. Safari 3.1.1 is a highly recommended upgrade due to what it has to offer its users.

The whole package is about 39 MB, and was developed for both Apple Macs and Microsoft Windows PCs. This latest version was made to address four security issues.

One of the major issues it addresses was the one reported by Charlie Miller. Apparently he discovered and exploited the vulnerability of a MacBook Air at the CanSecWest security conference.

Aside from this is the issue regarding the WebKit's handling of URLs. By exploiting this particular feature, a hacker could actually use a malicious URL that can lead to a cross-site scripting attack.

The two other issues are concerned with the PC versions of the software. One made it possible for a maliciously crafted website to control the contents of a user's address bar. The other caused arbitrary code execution or the whole Safari program to just unexpectedly quit.
